5 ways to keep your cool while planning your wedding

Five ways to keep your cool while planning your wedding

There are many moving parts to planning a wedding and with the ever increasing expectations and costs of living, it’s no wonder many couples are finding it can be a stressful endeavour.

Planning a wedding is no easy feat, there is a reason people can make a whole career out of it! There are many moving parts to not only getting your planning started, but to learn along the way and ensure everything comes together without a hitch on your big day.

With the ever increasing expectations and costs of living, it’s no wonder many couples are trying to do it all themselves. From buying second hand items on Marketplace to ordering decorations from overseas, wedding planning can very quickly turn into an exercise in management, logistics and stress. Three words that most couples wouldn’t want to associate with their wedding experience.

In the hopes of helping couples avoid turning what should be a wonderful time in their lives into a high stress situation, we’ve popped together five helpful steps for keeping your cool while planning your wedding!

With the ever increasing expectations and costs of living, it’s no wonder many couples are trying to do it all themselves.

1. Find your one true source

Have a look at a few wedding blogs and see which one resonates with your style most. Once you feel you’ve found the right one, use that as your umbrella for planning and styling tips. If you like their style, they will most likely have a directory or lists of recommended vendors that embody that aesthetic and ethos.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed between Pinterest, magazines, Instagram, TikTok, friends, family, current trends, you get the idea. The more you can streamline things and promote a calm environment for yourself, even in terms of research, the better chance you have of keeping your cool and not getting overwhelmed.

2. Attend venue open days

This is a great way to meet tried and trusted vendors that have experience with the venues you’re interested in. You can usually see some of their work/samples in action on the day in the environment your wedding will potentially be set in.

3. Don’t run around, literally!

What is that saying… a lady never runs? Though that saying is almost obsolete now, for many reasons, it does help to keep your cool… literally and figuratively. Keep unnecessary running around to a minimum. When you have a hundred things on your list, running around like a headless chook will only add to your stress and the chaos. See our next two points to aid with this.

4. Involve friends & family

If you have family or friends that are happy to help, let them! If you can coordinate things so that it means you minimise your running around that will make a world of difference, especially in the very last few weeks before your big day.

5. Know when it’s time to outsource

The last thing you want is to head into your wedding day feeling stressed out and unable to enjoy the festivities. So if all else fails, it’s time to bring in the professionals. Hire a bridal assistant, coordinator or wedding planner to ease your to-do list.

The last thing you want is to head into your wedding day feeling stressed out and unable to enjoy the festivities.

Often we think doing it ourselves means we are saving money but we’re really just paying with our energy instead. Now that’s not a bad thing, but if you want to keep your cool and you feel the temperature rising, it’s time to follow these five steps and maybe think about hiring some professional assistance so you turn up on your wedding day, refreshed, cool, calm and collected. Ready to sashay your way down the aisle into marital bliss!
